Hygen, in conjunction with our partner companies, are seeking a FP&A Analyst to join our growing operation in Oxford.

HyGen Energy is rapidly emerging as a leading clean hydrogen producer in the UK. Pioneering the development of Electrolysis and related Renewable Energy Generation Assets, this developer, owner, and operator is scaling one of the largest Green Hydrogen pipelines in the UK.

HyGen, supported by key partners, are developing and delivering Renewable Energy Source coupled electrolysis plants across the United Kingdom. Our activities span origination, development, feasibility, concept and front-end engineering design, project delivery and operation and maintenance of hydrogen production plants.

About the Role 

This role will principally support Hygen Energy but will also support other group companies as required, in particular Ryze Hydrogen. Reporting directly to CFO, and with a dotted line to the HydraB Group Financial Controller, the role will offer significant headroom for growth, exposure, and development in the near-term. This will be a broad role spanning core financial reporting activities with commercial and operational engagement. The successful candidate will have access, and input, to Hygen business strategy/priorities and to the Hygen Board and investors from time-to-time, and will support on upcoming fundraise processes. You will be comfortable in a fast-paced business environment where change and growth are the only constants.

Scope of Work 

  • Reporting: Work with the Financial Accounting team to review the month and year-end management accounts; Management reporting to include variance analysis and commentary for use in Management meetings and Board packs; support preparation of project FID proposals and Board Papers; manage project gate and pipeline reporting; Project tracking and reporting
  • Forecasting:  Preparation of budgets, reforecasts, short-term cash forecasts
  • Commercial Analysis: Manage scenario modelling on projects, prepare ad hoc project analysis, support Hygen Energy Analyst on power strategy, power initiatives and power purchasing
  • Controlling: Provide oversight of capex, devex and opex commitments; manage cash headroom; maintain corporate risk register for Hygen
  • Fundraising: Supporting on calling cash against current funding line, support on upcoming debt and equity raise processes
  • Collaboration: Attend regular meetings with key stakeholders in the business to present and review business performance; Provide support to other portfolio businesses as required by business priorities
  • Financial Accounting: Provide support, where required, to the Financial Accounting team on year-end reporting and audit liaison; tax compliance and structuring, transfer pricing/intercompany policies; SPV management; VAT recovery. On a day-to-day basis these core activities sit with the Financial Accounting team

Skills & Qualifications 

  • ACA/CIMA trained with 1-2 years PQE
  • Energy transition experience or demonstrated passion for working in the Hydrogen economy
  • Ability to cut through and multi-task
  • Succinct and concise communicator
  • High energy
  • Commercial thinker
  • Commutable distance to the office location in Oxford
